(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) – April 4, 2003 – Ever dream of racing a NASCAR legend around the track? On
Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m., AWA National PWC Jamboree participants
can make that dream come true at the “Polaris - MSX
Challenge with Rusty Wallace,” held at the Nashville Shores Park
in Hermitage, Tenn. Just
one day after racing at the Winston, Rusty Wallace will don a
wetsuit and race the new Polaris MSX watercraft around a slalom
course to set a time for other racers to beat. Rusty Wallace will
present the winner with a racing trophy at 1:30 p.m.
While
the racing competition heats up, Polaris will feature watercraft
demo rides and Rusty Wallace fan events, including an autograph
session and NASCAR memorabilia auction benefiting the Victory
Junction Gang Camp, founded by NASCAR’s Kyle and Pattie Petty.
“I
am excited about taking my racing experience to the water,” says
Wallace. “I know from
experience that the performance of the Polaris MSX will help me set
a pretty tough time for people to beat. It is an awesome performing
boat – and that compliment doesn’t come easily from a race car
driver!”
“Rusty
owns several Polaris Watercraft, so he’s no stranger to riding our
products on the lake,” says Ron Bills, general manager for Polaris
Watercraft. “It’ll be fun to watch him apply his NASCAR skills
to slalom racing with the MSX!”
The
events are free and open to the public, with the exception of the
slalom race, which is open only to Jamboree participants. Following
