 LODGING – HARBOR BEACH

The town of Harbor Beach does not have any large hotel chains.  The city has several small mom and pop motels and some Bed and Breakfasts.  Most Region 6 racers camp at this race site even - if they are not normally the camping type.  There is just so much to do with the racing, fireworks and Can-Am Cup – it is one big party.  There are several larger hotels in the town of Bad Axe that is 15-20 minutes away.  For those camping you can camp right on site although there are only restrooms.  There is a nice campground in Harbor Beach just a few miles away if you want a campground with showers and other facilities.

This is another perfect race site to camp at as the huge refreshment tent open late at night is right next to the grassy pit area. Live Bands Thursday thru Saturday right on the beach adds plenty of entertainment for the weekend. Every year there is a huge spectacular fireworks display from the Lighthouse that dazzles the crowd on Saturday night. Not to mention the outstanding racing action of the Budweiser / Novi Can-Am Cup as the United States Team competes with Canada for the coveted Can-Am Cup. There is no substitute, this is the real deal and as good as it gets. You will find no better race in the country to attend hands down.

Important Information:  This event is the APBA EASTERN DIVISIONAL.  We expect lots of riders from regions 7 & 8 to come to this event.  The event is run in conjunction with Celina Lake Festival that attracts 50,000 spectators.  Site is great big, fun, huge festival with lots to do.  Fireworks are on Friday night with 50,000 people and all roads shut off so you will not be able to get to the racer pit area until after the fireworks or Saturday morning.  A temporary parking lot for participants is set up near the pit area and directions to it will be announced.  Sorry for this inconvenience but it will be worth the wait. You can see the fireworks and walk to the site from the temporary parking lot.

VERY IMPORTANT - Parking: On Friday night there will be 50,000 people at the festival site to watch the HUGE fireworks show and our pit area will have 350 classic cars and 100 Amphicars.  YOU WILL NOT be able to park in the pit area until after 11:00 pm on Friday or Saturday morning.  All roads are closed off to the pit area so you would not be able to get there even if the car and Amphicars were not taken up our pit area on Friday.  STAGING FOR FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE AT THE BOAT LAUNCH/STATE PARK THIS YEAR.  After the fireworks racers can move to the pit area or wait until the morning and camp and park motorhomes there.  We will start one hour later on Saturday to accommodate the racers for the parking situation.

Please do not litter in the state park or throw cans in the park.  Please take all trash with you.  This is VERY IMPORTANT for us to continue to be able to use the park for staging.
